Mockingbird Flutes

This is a sweet "G minor" mid range Black Walnut Drone, Native American style flute made by Mockingbird Flutes, of Texas! This is a very popular key for Native American flute Songs! This Flute has a totem of a Horse.

Sorry I have been away for awhile but I had to get Ready for the Zion Canyon Flute and art Festival in Springdale, Utah. I got to meet some people that have seen and bought my flutes on Ebay as well as a lot of new friends. There were Ten Flute makers there and for the flute makers contest a few more mailed in flutes that did not attend the festival. The good news is that I got third place which was a great honor considering all the great flute makers that were in the contest. Pictures of this flute are at my Blog. Don't worry, this doesn't mean that I'm going to double my prices or anything because I want people to have a chance to get and play one of these marvelous instruments that has been gifted to us by the First Nation People.

I don't do this part time; I spend my time focused on making the best sounding flutes as well as creative designs. This also gives me enough time to make all my flutes while in a positive frame of mind. I start my day with meditation and prayer to the Creator to guide me through the day and to bless my flutes so they may heal the mind and spirit of those playing and hearing them. I also burn incense and cedar for each flute prior to tuning. I do this because I have been on a spiritual journey for most of my life and when I found the Native American Flute it just fit in with my Journey. This is why making flutes has become my passion!

I have set up a blog so that I can receive feed back from the many people that have bought one or more of my flutes or for those that may be thinking about buying one. Is there a totem that I haven't offered that you would love to see or a specific key or type of tuning that you would like to see offered? Then drop in at my blog and leave a message or ask a question. If I get enough interest then I will keep it updated with photos of Flutes to come.

Welcome to the Mockingbird Flutes Blog.

The finger holes are placed on center in the traditional style. See the flute lay out for the finger hole sizes and spacing. I can also custom make a flute for you so if you're interested please contact me. This flute, like all Native American style flutes are affected by temperature as far as the tuning is concerned but it was tuned at 72 degrees to a Mid "G" fundamental. This flute can be played by a professional at a recording studio or by the new flute player just playing by themselves. I will send a flyer that explains the adjustment of the bird and the finger patterns and links to some great web sites for new players.

Enjoy the Journey!
